Congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence. The Week saw a record number of events, participation, impact and media coverage in over 90 countries illustrating the diversity and strength of the global movement. Many governments and UN agencies joined civil society in making the Week a huge success. Activities included signature collection campaigns in support of an ethically principled Arms Trade Treaty, international football stars joining the Gun-Free World Cup campaign and the promotion of the Disarm Domestic Violence campaign.
IANSA Director, Rebecca Peters, said: “A fabulous series of events took place this year. Thanks are due to all our members for proving that IANSA is exceptionally well represented worldwide! Many of our members worked with their governments to prepare the Biennial Meeting of States next month and we are confident that the BMS will also be a big success.”
