Summit for Another World
'What price for those diamonds?' asks the new poster and postcard campaign launched by Amnesty International France, linking the arms trade with human rights abuses in the trade in natural resources. A further image focuses on the trade in timber:
The campaign was launched at the Alternative G8 meeting, the Summit for Another World, held in Evian France 1-3 June 2003. The French Coalition, a very active IANSA participant, also held a roundtable on arms transfers and their effects on human rights. IANSA members from Brazil and Mozambique described the damage done by small arms in their countries, and NGO Lotus de Kisangani addressed the current conflict in Democratic Republic of Congo.
