Weapons Parade - Barcelona
During the Week of Action, IANSA members Intermon Oxfam/Amnesty International organised a 'Weapons Parade', a parody of a fashion parade. Models displayed the 'latest fashions' in small arms, with a commentator describing their effects. The show was organised to draw attention to the arms problem.

The weapons were then publicly destroyed.

The event was aimed at urging President Zapatero to make a public declaration in support of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and was widely covered by the media.

El Mundo quoted Amnesty International as saying "urgent measures need to be taken immediately. Governments need to undertake action at every level in order to put an end to this suffering (caused by firearms), from the local communities right up to international level". Europa Press quoted Intermon Oxfam as stating "exporting governments must establish a reliable filter on their exports to avoid the sales of arms adversely affecting human rights".
