Visiting members of the National Focal Point on Small Arms were introduced to civil society campaigning activities, especially those relating to implementing the regional Nairobi Protocol on Small Arms. These events were organised by the Kenyan Action Network on Small Arms (KANSA).

Presenting the Million Faces petition for an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the Liberian Action Network on Small Arms (LANSA) climaxed the day with a press conference (pictured) and two phone-in talk shows on Star and UNMIL Radio. |

South Africa
A representative from the Nigerian Embassy was the keynote speaker at a roundtable organised by Amnesty International in Pretoria. A press conferene organised by Gun Free South Africa and the Ceasefire Campaign in johannesburg recieved significant media coverage, as did an opinion piece by Archbshop Desmond Tutu (see the links under Latest News above).

Uganda
Presenting the principles of the Arms Trade Treaty to government officials from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Seychelles and Sudan, the Ugandan Action Network on Small Arms (UANSA) received positive feedback and national press coverage. The presentation was delivered on 12 September as part of a Best Practice Exchange Program organised by the Regional Centre on Small Arms, allowing National Focal Points on Small Arms to visit each other to learn and exchange information. |
