Youth groups meet parliamentarians
Young activists in Argentina launched 5 days of intense lobbying activity on 16 March aimed at getting Parliamentarians to publicly support Control Arms.

Thousands attend launch
In Brazil an estimated 2,000 people attended a Control Arms event in the central plaza in São Paulo on 16 March, with musicians, a samba band and volunteers creating a 'no to guns' symbol through a living mosaic. Click here for photos.
Campaign launched in Northeastern States
The Disarmament Network in Brazil publicly launched Control Arms campaign for the first time in the Northeast of the country on 16 March on the beach of João Pessoa. The event was covered by two television news channels and many newspapers.
Scout meeting in São Paulo
Campaigners took part in a 10,000 strong Scout meeting in São Paulo’s amusement park. Scouts learned about the campaign, and all those signing up to the Million Faces were given a special badge!
Chile:
Various activities
Amnesty International - Chile organised numerous activities including a screening of the film Lord of War (23, 24 May), awareness-raising activities in underground stations, and projecting faces from the Control Arms Million Faces campaign onto a prominent public building. They also launched the annual Amnesty report as part of the Week of Action.
Colombia:
Regional action on the agenda in Bogotá
Directly following the successful meeting of the Latin American Coalition against Armed Violence (CLAVE), which took place in Bogotá from 3-5 April, the IANSA Women’s Network held a two-day workshop for Latin American members which brought together participants from 15 different countries in the region. The workshop was to look at gender dimension of small arms in Latin America and to make plans for the 100 Days, the Global Week of Action and the Review Conference.
Paraguay:
Cycle races and presentation
Amnesty International – Paraguay employees participated in cycling races and did a presentation of the Control Arms campaign.
Control Arms concert

Peru:
Various activites
In Peru, Amnesty were involved in numerous activities for the week of action including taking photos in the central park of Lima for the Million Faces petition, participating in a marathon, holding an exhibition of Million Faces photos in the Congress building, holding a conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, participating in the ‘so that it doesn’t happen again’ concert, holding an interview with the President of the Commission of the RREE, and organising a screening of ‘Lord of War’.
Campaigners call for tougher arms control
Peruvian campaigners held a press conference on 16 March to mark the start of the 100 days countdown, calling on the government to support tough international controls to stop small arms proliferation.
