Argentina: Global Week of Action 2006
There were campaigns in five cities during the Global Week of Action Against Small Arms, organised by the national disarmament network.

The campaign ’10,000 drawings for disarmament’ was presented at a press conference in Santa Fe on 22 May. 100 schoolchildren from three different schools took part in a drawing competition in the pedestrianised areas of Santa Fe on 23 May.
A large number of children took part painting a banner for peace in Buenos Aires on 28 May at the end of the art exhibition "Desarme y convivencia" (Disarmament and Cohabitation).
Women murdered by firearms is the theme of a paper released to the press in Mendoza, followed by a meeting for survivors of gun violence and their families in the centre of the city. The leaflet ‘If you have a gun, you have a problem’ were distributed, and photos for the Million Faces petition were collected throughout the week.
Information about disarmament was distributed throughout Santa Fe city on 24 May, followed by a round table debate involving a number of high-profile public figures. An outdoor screening of ‘Bowling for Columbine’ was organised by the national disarmament network in Santa Fe and Rosario on 25 May.
Toy guns were exchanged for books in a project involving two schools in Rosario on 25 May. Members of the national disarmament network continued to collect photos for the Million Faces petition and launched a drawing competition.
A briefing on the small arms situation was distributed by the national disarmament network in Cordoba. There was also a public debate on policies to control the arms trade. A press conference to mark the Global Week of Action was organised by national disarmament network members in Parana.
