Sudan: Meetings on international small arms commitments
A forum on the Sudanese commitments to small arms agreements was attended by the Human Security Initiative Organisation (HSIO). The forum also included the participation from the National Focal Pointt, the joint army force leader of the SPLM, parliamentarians, journalists and NGOs. HSIO issued a letter to the President urging the signing and ratification of international small arms agreements.
A leaflet and press releases were reported in the Sudan Vision daily newspaper and Aladdwa on 28 and 25 May, respectively.
HSIO also held a meetings with
- the police to disscuss proposed joint activities to control illicit spread of small arms.
- the National Small Arms Focal Point to discuss and propose the next steps for the national plan of action.
