IANSA welcomes our new UN Liaison Officer, Rose Welsch. She takes over from Michele Poliacof, whom we thank for her years of dedicated service, and for agreeing to continue sharing her wisdom and advice with us. Rose will be responsible for coordinating civil society participation in the Sixth Biennial Meeting of States on Small Arms (BMS6), to be held at UN Headquarters in New York 6-10 June 2016.
On 28 October 2014 the following delegations addressed issues regarding international security: Jamaica on behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Cuba, Pakistan, and Trinidad and Tobago. In addition, NGOs had the opportunity to address the First Committee, with Control Arms, IANSA and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom speaking on the topics of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).
