This year’s Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence is scheduled for 1-8 May 2016.  

New Resources

Following the five days of meetings at the UN Headquarters in New York for BMS6, IANSA has published a report on all country positions related to the following topics: Ammunition, Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) & Programme of Action (PoA), Civil Society, Destruction, Gender & Women, Youth, and Victoms & Survivors. 

 

IANSA welcomes our new UN Liaison Officer, Rose Welsch. She takes over from Michele Poliacof, whom we thank for her years of dedicated service, and for agreeing to continue sharing her wisdom and advice with us. Rose will be responsible for coordinating civil society participation in the Sixth Biennial Meeting of States on Small Arms (BMS6), to be held at UN Headquarters in New York 6-10 June 2016.

The First Committee of the GA begins on 7 October and runs until 9 November 2015. Information on sessions can be found here.

The Security Council open debate on "The human cost of the illicit transfer, accumulation, diversion and misuse of small arms and light weapons"(SALW) took place at the UN in New York on 13 May.
