Throughout January, IANSA members in Gabon, Central African Republic and Congo-Brazzaville have participated in the civil society consultations on the legal instrument for the control of small arms in Central Africa. The consultations have been held by the national governments who are planning to send their official views on the instrument to UNSAC before 31 January.
On 19 January Italy sent its largest warship, the aircraft carrier Cavour, to support relief operations in earthquake-devastated Haiti. The Italian Disarmament Network is asking the Ministry of Defence to make public the nature, timing and cost of this operation.
