Full Members of IANSA are civil society organisations whose work includes action to stop firearm proliferation and misuse. They must sign and adhere to the Members’ Charter, and support the mission statement, values and current policy positions of IANSA and demonstrate that some of their activities further the mission.

Institute for Security Studies

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS), South Africa, has published a Monograph exploring the role of armed private military and security companies in peacekeeping operations in Africa.


In the UK, IANSA member Saferworld hosted a visit of seven Chinese experts on arms and non-proliferation in late 2011.

In Pakistan, IANSA member Alliance for Peace & Disability Rights (APDR) and SPRING International have organised a series of events to raise awareness and mobilise around arms control in schools and local communities in conflict affected areas in the Swat District.

Dickson Nkemakonam Orji of the West African Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA) -Nigeria was designated the chair of a meeting of governmental experts on marking and tracing of small arms, held in Bamako, Mali from 6 – 8 December.
