US: Recent shootings show consequences of weak gun laws

Just three weeks into 2010, the US has seen an alarming number of shootings and armed domestic violence incidents throughout the country. This week in Virginia, a licensed gun owner shot dead his sister and 7 other relatives and friends. The gunman also used a high-powered rifle to shoot down a police helicopter. According to a new report from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Barack Obama’s first year as President shows a poor record on armed violence prevention. Obama signed legislation this year that would allow hidden guns to be carried in national parks and on Amtrak trains. More
