IANSA women link firearms and gender violence

On Monday 8 March, IANSA Women around the world joined the celebrations to mark International Women's Day. At the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, the IANSA Women's Network hosted an event which highlighted the impacts of gun violence on women and girls in Colombia, DR Congo, Guyana and US. Speakers demanded action to end impunity for armed violence against women and girls; and gun violence prevention through a strong Arms Trade Treaty. They agreed that gender equality and empowerment of women cannot be achieved without eliminating gun violence against women. To read more, visit: www.iansa.org
