DR Congo: Campaign highlighting gender and small arms

On 24 March the National Commission on Small Arms in the DR Congo launched a campaign to raise awareness about the proliferation of small arms in the country. At the opening the Minister of Interior and Security spoke about the importance of integrating a gender perspective in efforts to reduce armed violence, and stressed that women must be included in the work for peace in the DR Congo. Diplomats and representatives from the national police and military were present at the event, as well civil society experts including IANSA member Réseau Congolais d'Action sur les Armes Légères (RECAAL).
