Lebanon: Boom in illegal small arms market as violence in Syria kills hundreds

The uprising and violence in Syria has led to a boom in Lebanon's illegal market in small arms, according to Al Jazeera. Local dealers told the news agency that prices on some types of guns have soared by as much as 300 per cent, and that illegal imports of weapons to Lebanon had increased as a result. The weapons sold include AK-47 assault rifles, M16 rifles and PKC machine guns. Since the violence against protesters began in Syria, dozens of soldiers and hundreds of civilians have been killed.
