Sudan: Launch of two new sub-national action networks

Two new sub-national action networks on small arms have been launched in the Southern Sudanese states of Warrap and Central Equatoria under the Southern Sudan Action Network on Small Arms (SSANSA). The networks were launched during two civil society consultations on the small arms problem in Warrap on 1 May and in Central Equatoria on 6 May, organised with the support of Saferworld and IKV Pax Christi. In a recent update, SSANSA said, “As the high level of insecurity matches the level of inflow of arms and since origins of the threats are relatively domestic, there is need for domestic efforts with international support to address the small arms problem in the state”.Read more here.
