South Africa: Ceasefire Campaign hosts seminar on police use of guns

Ceasefire Campaign, an IANSA member in South Africa, organised a seminar to explore police use of firearms in Johannesburg. David Bruce, a researcher at Centre for the Study of Violence, was the main speaker. He focused on the need for an amendment of national laws to limit the lethal use of force by police, pointing out that 524 South Africans were killed by the police in 2009 and 2010. Around 30 people attended this event.
