Djibouti: Meeting on small arms in the Great Lakes Region and Horn of Africa

The Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) Council of Ministers (COM) met in Djibouti on 17 and 18 October to discuss the proliferation of small arms in the Great Lakes Region and Horn of Africa. The Central African Republic and the Republic of South Sudan were welcomed as new member states of the COM. The meeting was opened by Executive Secretary of RECSA, Dr. Francis K. Sang, and attended by state delegations and civil society from the region, including IANSA member Union National de Jeunes Démobilises (ONG UNJD). It was preceded by a meeting of the Technical Advisory Council of RECSA, where Djibouti officials were commended for their efforts to implement the objectives of RECSA, including implementation of the Nairobi declaration.
