Georgia: Women demand inclusion in peace and security processes

On 31 October 2011, more than 200 women participated in vigils in 9 different towns in Western Georgia under the slogan “Let’s make efficient the UN Resolution 1325 for women, peace and security!". The vigils were organised by IANSA women at Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi" as part of the international campaign “No women, No peace!”, coordinated by Gender Action for Peace and Security (GAPS UK), which aims to ensure that women's voices are heard in peace negotiations. The vigils were covered by television channels including Rioni, IMEDI and Radio Tavisupleba.
