Protect women’s right to safety: fight the weakening of gun control laws

On International Women's Day, the Coalition for Gun Control in Canada and a wide range of organisations promoting women's safety continue their fight for the national long gun registry. According to Alberta Council of the organisation Women’s Shelters, “Quite simply, the registry helps police and courts save the lives of women and children living in violence. (…) The registry saves lives by alerting police when there are guns involved in domestic violence cases, allowing these weapons to be removed before the situation escalates”.
