Activities in over 40 countries for Global Day of Action on Military Spending 2012

On 17 April, organisations and individuals all over the world participated in the Global Day of Action Against Military Spending with more than 140 actions in over 40 countries. The event coincided with the release of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI) new annual figures on world military expenditures. Colin Archer of the International Peace Bureau said, “We are not only talking about money. The world is misusing some of its most brilliant brains, which are desperately needed to tackle issues like the energy crisis and the challenge of creating millions of new jobs”.
