Congolese Expert Joins Cameroon Campaign

Charles Nasibu gives a briefing on gun trafficking in Central Africa

 

On the invitation of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and  the UN Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC), Congoloese IANSA campaigner Charles Nasibu attended the Central Africa Sub Regional Conference on Trans-Frontier Peace and Security in Yaounde Cameroon on 4-10 September 2007. Charles' participation in this conference was made possible with financial support by GRIP.

During his stay in Cameroon Charles met with several organisations that work on small arms, including members of the Cameroon Action Network on Small Arms (CANSA), Fondation Paul Ango Ela, the Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission.

At the end of the conference, Charles attended a CANSA workshop, along with CANSA representatives Eugine Ngalim of the Cameroon Youth and Students Forum for Peace (CAMYOSFOP), Peter Kum Che of the Trauma Centre and Michel Takam from Action pour un Developpement Equitable Integre et Durable. Charles also attended a press briefing where he discussed his participation in the Yaounde conference and IANSA's work in the region.
