Somalia: Extreme violence continues, say doctors

High levels of violence, most of it with guns, are having catastrophic effects on the population of Somalia, according to Medecins san Frontieres (MSF).

In the first six months of 2005, one of the hospitals in the town of Galkayo treated 224 people with gunshot wounds, comprising 56% of the violent trauma injuries.

'In Somalia there is no freedom because guns point at us permanently' says a pharmacist interviewed for the MSF website, which features articles, films and photo galleries.
