New Amnesty International report on Arms Transportation controls

A new publication by the Small Arms Survey reveals the realities of transparency and opaqueness in the ammunition market. The paper, entitled ‘Surveying Europe’s Production and Procurement of Small Arms and Light Weapons Ammunition: The Cases of Italy, France and the Russian Federation’, outlines state production, procurement, export, and, when possible, consumption of ammunition for small arms and light weapons. The report further illustrates how the reluctance of nations to fully disclose information, together with poor accounting practices remains a challenge for research on demand and supply chains for small arms and light weapons ammunition.
