Summaries from the Arms Trade Treaty Preparatory Committee 13-17 February 2012
This week, UN member states are gathering in New York for the fourth session of preparatory committee (PrepCom) meetings on an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). IANSA and Control Arms Campaign (CAC) members are present at the UN and will be monitoring and reporting on the activities and work of the PrepCom throughout the week.
The focus of the fourth ATT PrepCom is for UN Member States to discuss and agree the procedural mechanisms of the ATT Negotiating Conference in July.
To keep you informed about the debate we are pleased to share with you the latest summaries of morning and afternoon plenary sessions, and side events with specific focus on small arms and light weapons and ammunition; gender based violence and sexual violence; and survivor rights and victim assistance.
