About RSS RSS at IANSA

What is RSS?

RSS is an easy way for you to keep updated on websites you like. Instead of you having to go to indiviudal websites to see if they've written a new article or feature, RSS allows them to let you know when they have something new.

How can I make use of RSS?
There are a number of ways to read RSS feeds. You will either need to find and use a programme called a News Reader or you can use an RSS add-on to some browsers and e-mail programmes. These will then display the information from RSS feeds from your chosen websites on your computer. All you then have to do is choose which RSS feeds you want.

Where do I get an RSS News Reader or add-on?
There are a range of different News Readers available including: Feedreader - An Open Source Feed Reader

If you use Firefox as your browser there are a number of extensions that you can use to access RSS feeds. Sage is a lightweight RSS feed reader that works within the browser. Sage can auto detect RSS feeds on any web page which makes it very easy to use.

Whatever browser you use there is a free service called Pluck that makes using RSS easy. You can sign up from the link below.

Some e-mail programmes such as Thunderbird can be set up to detect and display our RSS Feed. You can find out here how to do it.

How do I sign up for the IANSA RSS feed?
You can sign up for the IANSA RSS Feed either from this page or from the Home Page. You then need to follow the instructions for your particular News Reader in order to add our feed to your RSS list. All readers work slightly differently. If yours asks for the URL or address of the feed, copy and paste the text below into the reader:
