Tanzania: East African states given small arms marking equipment

Small arms marking equipment worth more than US$ 350,000 was given to member states of the East African Community (EAC) in a ceremony in Arusha, Tanzania on 30 November. The equipment was granted as part of an EU-funded programme on ‘Conflict Prevention and Management Resolution’ in Eastern and Southern Africa. The East Africa Action Network on Small Arms (EAANSA) works with National Focal Points on small arms control to support them in the implementation of this programme. All the EAC member states are party to the UN International Instrument on Tracing, which requires all state-owned arms to be marked. More
