Argentina: 140,000 guns will never be fired again

20,168 guns were melted down and destroyed in Campana, Argentina on 11 December 2010 as part of a government plan for nationwide voluntary disarmament. According to the Ministry of Justice, more than 140,000 guns have been collected and destroyed since 2007. This is equivalent to 10% of the total number of firearms registered in the country.
