Kenya: illicit guns go up in smoke

International Women's Day 2007
IANSA members will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March, recognising the widespread and ongoing problem of gun violence against women. The issue was covered in the UN Secretary-General’s statement for IWD, in which he stressed ‘our responsibility to work for enduring change in values and attitudes’.
Some members of the IANSA Women’s Network are in New York for the UN Commission on the Status of Women. In Senegal, the NGO Malao will mark IWD by holding a People’s Consultation on the Arms Trade Treaty. For more information on IANSA’s involvement in International Women’s Day activities, visit the IANSA Women’s Network.
