UN Small Arms Review Conference, 26 June to 7 July 2006

A landmark resolution on human rights and small arms was adopted by the UN human rights sub-commission in Geneva (Switzerland) on 24 August.

Crisis in Lebanon: Support IANSA members

The Permanent Peace Movement, an IANSA member in Lebanon, is one of the organisations providing humanitarian relief to the many thousands of people displaced by the ongoing Israeli bombing attacks. They are requesting assistance both financial and in kind.

Increasing violence in the Middle East

Violence is escalating in the Middle East, with Lebanon and Israel bombing each other and gun attacks increasing in Iraq. As of Friday, 345 Lebanese civilians have been killed, over 1,000 wounded and some 500,000 displaced. Israel reported 34 deaths including 19 civilians.

Switzerland: Coalition for tougher gun laws

In Switzerland, a coalition of civil society organisations is calling for a centralised national gun registry
