IANSA Women's Network
16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence
Members of IANSA Women's Network in Lebanon, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela during the 16 Days of Activism.

IANSA women from 29 countries organised events to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence, which began on 25 November and ended on 10 December - International Human Rights Day. This year members of IANSA Women’s Network urged national governments to take action on the commitments they have made to ending armed violence – including domestic violence – against women. They also pushed further the Disarming Domestic Violence (DDV) campaign. By being part of this campaign, IANSA women send a strong message to the whole world: armed violence against women must stop!

Activities range from concerts to film screenings to art exhibitions. Highlights include a street action under the slogan “Do not slur over to violence report it!” organised by JWCR in Macedonia. FMJC launched the DDV campaign in six provinces of DR Congo in two major national languages: Swahili and Lingala. In the Middle East, Defend International conducted extensive media outreach and held workshops. In El Salvador, CEMUJER distributed campaign materials in the Congress and the ministries of Interior and Justice urging the government to protect women from gun violence.
