Celebration Of International Women's Day
1. The day's activities began with a seminar organised by our women's wing with eminent women personalities in attendance. Among those present were the special Adviser to the Executive Governor of our state on Women and Community Affairs, Mrs Kemi Nelson, women leaders of traders’ associations, professionals and academicians.
2. AFHURAN women’s wing in conjunction with the executive addressed a press conference with the theme "Women and arms trafficking". The press conference covered critical global issues.
3. Courtesy visits were made to the offices of some dignitaries like women commissioners, a minister and two prominent traditional rulers.
4. The executive board of AFHURAN women’s wing was dissolved and new executives were sworn in to run the affairs for the mandatory two years.
5. At the end of the day's activities, a press release was issued and an appeal to Federal, States and Local Governments to give higher priority to women in the running of their administrations.
Yours peacefully,
Mrs Fatimo Adefunke Oke
Director of Women's Affairs
