IANSA Women's Network Bulletin No. 6 (April, 2005)
International Day of Action for Women’s Health

28 May is International Day of Action for Women’s Health, which provides an opportunity for IANSA to draw the world’s attention to the fact that small arms pose a major threat to women’s health that is grossly disproportionate to women’s role as owners or users. Moreover, small arms contribute to a major public health crisis. They kill and injure hundreds of thousands of people every year, burden hospitals and other health facilities, and disrupt health service delivery. Small arms also fuel conflicts that contribute to forced migration, infectious disease, and psychological trauma.
