1. Speak Out, Act Up!
Launch a special women's day event to gather photos for the Control Arms Million Faces campaign.
Hold a press conference to discuss the impact of small arms on women - or the impact of women on work to reduce small arms violence - using data from your country or region and inviting local experts, authorities and victims of gun violence to participate.
Call a journalist and suggest that they do a story on gun violence and women.
Write an opinion piece on women and small arms (see the IANSA fact sheets for useful background information).
Start an e-campaign asking your government to do more to stop gender-based gun violence.
Ask a famous or influential woman (such as a well-known artist, musician, community leader or politician) to make a statement against the proliferation and misuse of small arms and circulate it.
Organise a gun collection or trade in program, using real or toy weapons.
Organise a public awareness demonstration involving women against gun violence.
Organise a women's round table meeting on gender and small arms.
2. Tell Us About It!
Write to the IANSA Women's Network at women@iansa.org and let us know what you are planning to do, so we can inform others in the network and help share resources and ideas.
Keep us informed (on women@iansa.org ) of the results of your action or media event.
We will post information here on the IANSA women's portal |
