The Women’s Network at The UN Biennial Meeting of States (BMS) on Small Arms is the first major follow-up to the 2001 UN Small Arms Conference. New York from 7-11 July 2003

The Network is organising events including:

The IANSA Women’s Network is organising events at the upcoming New York meeting including:

1. A Speak-out with women from all over the world offering ideas, lessons learnt and suggestions for moving forward,

2. A media statement to help journalists understand the gender dimension of the small arms problem,

3. An exhibition on ‘Women and War’ by the renowned photographer Jenny Matthews,

4. Distribution of fact sheets on women and gun violence,

5. Conducting interviews with women from NGOs, governments and UN agencies for an upcoming Network publication on how women’s groups have mobilised to reduce violence,

6. A lobbying paper for national delegations, suggesting language on women and small arms to include in the outcome document of the BMS.
